1. Joining the Game

Welcome! Use the organizer’s link to join your Take n Run game.

Getting the Game Link

Your organizer will share a link with you. It might come via:

  • Text message or chat app
  • Email
  • Printed handout

Open the link in your phone’s browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.).

Use Your Phone: Take n Run works best on mobile phones since you’ll need a camera and internet connection during the game.

Joining Methods

Depending on how the organizer set up the game, you’ll either enter your name or select it from a list.

Self-Registration Mode

If you see a text input field:

  1. Type your name (up to 20 characters)
  2. Use letters, numbers, spaces, dashes, or underscores
  3. This is how other players and the organizer will identify you

Pre-Defined List Mode

If you see a list of names:

  1. Find your name in the list
  2. Tap/click on your name to select it
  3. If you’re on a team, your teammates will appear nearby

Your Responsibility

Before you can join, you’ll need to read and accept the responsibility statement. By accepting, you acknowledge:

  • You are responsible for your own safety and wellbeing
  • You will follow safety guidelines while playing
  • You will respect property and other people

Read this carefully! It contains important information about staying safe during the game.

Completing Your Registration

  1. Enter or select your name
  2. Read the responsibility statement
  3. Click the “Accept” button
  4. You’ll be taken to the game lobby

Team Information

If you’re playing on a team:

  • Your team name appears with your selection
  • All team members share the same game progress
  • Any team member can submit check-ins

Changing Your Selection

If you selected the wrong name:

  • While in the lobby (before the game starts), look for the exit icon next to your name in the header
  • Tap it to log out and select a different name
  • Once the game starts, you cannot change your selection

Troubleshooting

The link doesn’t work

  • Make sure you have the complete link (it may have been cut off)
  • Check your internet connection
  • Ask the organizer to resend it

I accidentally joined as the wrong person

  • Before the game starts, tap the exit icon next to your name in the header to log out

What’s Next?

After joining, you’ll be in the game lobby. From there you can:

  • Watch the tutorial video
  • Review game information
  • See the start location
  • Wait for the game to begin
